We are pleased to share a brief overview of Inside Out Wisdom and Action’s activities this past year – the year we officially launched as a project! To read a full description of what the IOWA Project is all about, click here.
Since launching, we have had a number of exciting developments. By June 2019, 10 IOWA groups will be running across the Northeast and Washington, DC, and we will be kicking off our first national social justice leaders cohort with a retreat in June. Lots of exciting things are happening– take a look below to see a few snapshots of what we’ve been up to!
IOWA Mussar groups have launched at Brown University, Harvard University, and Vassar College, and with the BIJAN Network in Boston.
We held a Train the Trainers (top left, bottom right) to prepare an amazing group of folks to lead Mussar groups in their communities. Over 20 people gathered for a Young Adult Strategy session (top right) to figure out how Mussar groups could support their work and what these groups might look like in their communities. Jewish communal leaders (bottom left) gathered to advise on the vision and direction of the IOWA Project.
IOWA Project facilitators and organizers brought the work to their communities! Check out our spotlights on stellar leaders like Liz Aeschlimann, Sophie Schoenberg, and Rachie Lewis and how they bring Mussar into their organizing.
Rabbi David ran a number of workshops including the fall Teshuva Workshops leading up to the High Holidays and the recent “From God Talk to Godly Action” with Rabbi Toba Spitzer. Video and source sheets from that session will be available soon!
Here’s to another year of building in 2019!
